CASTING

THE AIM OF THIS PROJECT IS TO PERFORM ROMEO & JULIET'S PLAY.

TOPIC 1. CASTING.
Romeo and Juliet - Character Cards
Everyone in the class takes or is given a character card. Everyone
should read the information on the card two or three times. You do
not have to remember the card word for word, but have a good idea
about the information on it.
Put the card in your pocket or out of sight and then find someone else
in the room with the same coloured card as you. Pretend to be the
character and introduce yourself to your new partner:
eg. "Hello! My name is Juliet and I am Lord Capulet's daughter.........".
Your partner should do the same to you. Remember! if either of you
get stuck, you can take out your card and look at it. But only if you are
stuck. Listen carefully to each other.
Now go to find another two people with the same colour card as you.
Now you are four, you have to introduce your partner to the others
and they have to introduce each other to you.
eg: "Hello! Can I introduce you to my partner His name is Mercutio...”

Cards will be delivered by Public Speaking teachers in class.

TOPIC 2. CONNECT FOUR GAME
Connect four game
This is a game for two players or two pairs of players.
To play the game you need two sets of counters in two different colours and one of the game boards: either
the one with information about characters or with quotes.
Shuffle your counters and place them face down in front of you.
Take turns to pick a counter and place it on a correct space on the board. If you are in doubt or dispute go to
the text of the play to check the answers.
The first player or pair to get four in a row vertically, diagonally or horizontally is the winner!

Cards will be delivered by Public Speaking teachers in class.

TOPIC 3. CASTING SHEET
Working further on which character is the best for each student.

In Act I Scene 2 of Romeo & Juliet, Lord Capulet, Juliet's father, and Paris, cousin to Prince
Escalus who wants to marry Juliet, discuss the marriage. In many cultures marriages are
arranged by parents with little or no input from the bride and groom. In this scene Capulet
tells Paris:

My will to her consent is but a part.
And she agreed, within her scope of choice
Lies my consent and fair according voice.

So, Lord Capulet at least is telling Juliet's suitor that she must also consent to the marriage.
Of course, we found out that Juliet didn't want to marry Paris. She has fallen in love with the son of her family's arch-enemy, Lord Montegue.

Have you ever dated or even expressed an interest in a guy or girl that your parents
disapproved of? If so, you should have some empathy for what Romeo and Juliet are going through in this play.

If you had to list the traits (physical, personality, etc.) of your perfect mate, what would they be? Try to be as specific as you can be.
